Yes… I am in the hospital

SoniaI wanted to give an update to everyone. It’s been a bit of whirlwind. I went to the doctor yesterday with Brett to double-check on a pain I was having when I took a deep breath. While I was there, I decided to check on my left leg, which was swollen and so sore that I had difficulty walking.

Four hours later I was being admitted to St. John’s Mercy for blood clots in my leg and my lungs. Turns out that I have a total of six clots (four in my leg and one in each lung). I was surprised as everyone else.

This is the cool toilet in the emergency room! The doctors have put me on blood thinners, and they expect to keep me in the hospital until Monday, just to watch me. The good news is that I feel great (especially with the pain killers for my leg!) As long as the blood clots don’t move, then I’ll be in good shape. I ask for you to pray for the clots to stay put and dissolve quickly.

And for you inquiring minds, they don’t know yet what caused the blood clots. I’ll keep you posted.

By the way, I thought the toilet in the photo was so cool. It was in the ER and it just pulls out of a cabinet. Talk about a space saver!

That toilet is great. Get the manufacturer’s name while your there. I’m thinking about having one installed for my bedside table. Talk about convenience! Shane and I will be praying for you, and keeping an eye on the website for updates (and other interesting, hidden, hospital, gadgets as well:0) We love you!!!!

Well, good evening (morning here in Michigan)!

Sonia, my dad told me your news when we talked tonight. It’s been SO long since I’ve seen you, but I wanted to take the time to say hi and let you know that you’re in my thoughts. I am praying for your speedy recovery.

I must confess that I discovered your website as I Googled your mom’s name after I heard of her passing. I wanted to add something to the comments from your many loving friends, but I never did. Please know that you, Dana, Doug, and your dad were in my heart during that time and will remain there always.

I have such fond memories of our families’ getting together when we were kids. I like to think that our moms are finally together again, exchanging recipies, hunting for bargains, laughing and talking. My mom died on June 27, 2007, less than a year before yours. She struggled with breast cancer for about ten years, but in the end it was a brain tumor that sped up the process. She went quickly in the end, which was a huge blessing. I was fortunate to have shared her last vacation to Mazatlan that February. We also had some time together in late April before she started her rapid decline. Just like your mom, every time I looked back, there was a smile on her face. That is what we’ll always remember.

Thank you for sharing your life on the ‘net. Your websites are exceptional, and I appreciate your writing style very much. Oh, and by the way, I think the Planet background is way groovy!

It’s so nice to know that you’re out there, keeping your faith strong. Please concentrate on getting better. I will check in periodically for news.
